The town of Byron Center is a beautiful place to live. It is situated in the southwest corner of Kent County, with Wyoming on the north, Gaines on the east, Dorr and Allegan County on the south, and Jamestown in Ottawa County on the west. The town is well known for its strong community spirit, and it offers many great amenities including a library, a community center, and plenty of parks and green spaces. One of the things that makes Byron Center so special is its history. The town dates back to 1836 When the first settler, Nathan Boynton, decided to build a farm on the banks of Rush creek.
Today, Byron Center is a thriving community with plenty to offer its residents and visitors. Douglas Walker Park is a beautiful park located in Byron Center, Michigan. The park is very popular for picnic and shelter reservations and also sees considerable use by field sports including soccer, baseball and softball. The park serves as a trailhead for the east branch of Kent Trails, with a trail link entering the park at the northwest corner and crossing Buck Creek on the main service drive. All the sports facilities, picnic areas and the shelter are south of Buck Creek. North of the creek, park visitors will find a 20 acre undeveloped natural area. Douglas Walker Park is definitely a must-see park in Byron Center!
Kent Trails is a popular destination for walkers, runners, and cyclists in Byron Center, Michigan. The 15-mile paved trail stretches from John Ball Park to Byron Center, following abandoned railroad lines and surface streets. There are four main trailheads along the way, as well as several spur trails that lead to other parks and recreation areas. The trail is a collaborative effort between Kent County Parks, the cities of Grand Rapids, Grandville, Walker and Wyoming, and Byron Township.
In addition to these major attractions, there are also plenty of places to shop. The Tanger Outlet mall in Byron Center, Michigan, is a great place to find discounts on brand-name merchandise. With over 65 stores, there’s something for everyone, whether you’re looking for clothes, shoes, accessories, or home goods. The mall is divided into several sections, so you can easily find what you’re looking for. And if you can’t find what you’re looking for at the Tanger Outlet mall, there are plenty of other shopping options in the area.
